How big are you now??

We are sitting at 21lbs 11oz (give or take the ounces since she had a clean cloth diaper on and had not poop for the day), 31 inch in height and 17 7/8 inches around the head. Height jumped up there and weight is still moving along quite nicely. In height alone, we should be moving out of Gap and Gymboree 12- 18 month clothes because they only go up to 31 inches. But in weight and in baggyness of the clothes, we will stay in 12-18 months until winter hits. Let's hope that she does not have another growth spurt soon or we might be in 2T clothes before we know it.

Other then her measurements everything else is quite fine. She is developing quite nicely. We don't have to worry about that whole juice thing because we don't give her any. We can flip her car seat around. That will be nice for her. We gave her the vaccinations that she needed but no flu shot. We are not a flu shot family. We are really careful not to get sick ourselves. Besides how is Dylan suppose to have a heathy immune system if we give her vaccinations for the flu.

it was a good day with a late nap included.

Vacation

Here this week, we are on vacation. Okay, just me and Dylan. Okay, just me. My mom is on the real vacation while I am on a staycation. I have heard of those things. Well, it will be the week where I will finally start getting some stuff done around here. Like starting my scrapbook that I brought supplies for a few weeks ago. Adding patches onto Dylan's orange and vanilla gdiapers. Going to the eye doctor (did that one this morning and got my eyes dilated). Taking Dylan for her 15 month check up. Hanging out with friends old and new. Getting the oil changed. Writing in the blog. Updating the Barefoot Books pages. Watching all the felicity and other recorded shows off the DVR. Going to the Lion King on friday for our big 6 year anniversary. Having a weekend to spend with my family. Going to the Pumpkin Patch. Taking dylan to her first concert, Elizabeth Mitchell. Seeing the Jim Henson exhibit.

What else?

I think we have a very busy week ahead of us.

YAY!!!

Happy Two Weeks

Today was a big day in Dylan's life. We went to the pediatrician for her official two week check up. Without a diaper, she is 6 lbs, 8 oz or so and with a diaper she is 6 lbs 12 oz. She is in the 10-25 percentile for weight. Her height is 19 1/2 being in the 10-25 percentile. Her head is 13 7/8 and in the 25th percentile. She got her Hep B shot today as well. Since she was going to get a shot, I brought a bottle for her. That seem to calm her down. She is looking good.

We went to the pre-natal water playgroup today as well. That was nice to be around other mommy's and babies. They were helpful and it was nice to talk to other women. I am going to try to go when I can. Also, I am going to jump in on Jess's playgroup as well just to see different women and get a different perspective on parenting.

Dylan's newborn photo shoot is up. If you would like the link and information for it, please e-mail me or text. I will provide it for you. Anyway, time to get ready for bed.

Also, her cord stump fell off last night. Plus we can start putting her on her tummy during the day for a couple of minutes.

Shhh....

The little one is sleeping right now in her pack in play. So it will give me a chance to tell you all about the first few days of her life.

She has officially made her daddy a daddy. She peed on him and split up on him. This morning when he went to change her diaper, she decided to poop all over the mat. It was a great thing. Two poops today. Go Dylan. She has not poop she we got home from the hospital. She has been doing great with the pees but not the poops until today. But the score is Dylan 2, Nick 0.

We have been having breastfeeding issues. It is a combination of being a late-pre-term baby, sore nipples, lack of sucking, supply and demand issues. So we saw a lactation consultant yesterday and hopefully that will put us back in track. We were doing so well up until monday. It also did not help that we had so many nurses telling us what was right or wrong and one nurse that was just a jerk. I have to feed her at least every 3 hours. So as long as she is getting 8 feeding within 24hr, she will be fine. What doesn't come out of me has been supplemented with formula and a bottle. http://breastbabyproducts.com/ She is the one helping us. She bills our insurance and she is a master at her craft. FYI

We saw the pediatrician yesterday as well. So Dy is doing good. She had gain one oz from her discharge weight. It was just a check-in type of appointment due to the fact that I did not deliver at Edwards so they had to make sure she was okay. She is going to have her full check up on the 2nd. She gets a little jaundice at times but it clears up almost right away.

Okay she is waking up. So I will post more later. In the meantime, flick was updated.

Children's Health Partners

We are going out to see Children's Health Partners tonight in Naperville to see if we would like them to be our pediatricians. I want a pediatrician that is a smaller practice no more then 5 doctors at the most. I would like the practice to be more green friendly/progressive with their approach with medicine. I do not know where I stand on the whole childhood immunizations issue but I was reading reviews about this practice and they are flexible about the subject. I want the practice to be very supportive over breastfeeding which it looks like they are. So we will see what the informational session brings and what they say about their methods. I can only assume that all the doctors have a standard of practice uniting them together.

Question time: Do you have any recommendations for a pediatrician that is in line with our guidelines?
